I’m looking for a reasonably priced computer?

Favorite Answer:

Hey Ever,

Since you are looking for a computer that is a laptop – I am going to suggest something radical:

Dell – They are like $499 Or the other day at Walmart I saw a Compaq that was about $599.

Computers are changing every month. Whatever you get now that is refurbished, you are going to hate it by next year! Save the $300-$400 they are going to charge you to give you a refurb and spend it on a new one (Plus, you’ll not only get licensed software, you’ll also get the warranty and tech support – That won’t come with a refurb)

I read an ad on craigslist that said $5000 for the donation of a woman’s eggs. Has anyone ever heard if this?

Favorite Answer:

Hey Corey,

I agree with the others but I need to point out that the $$$ is for harvested eggs. In order to have your eggs harvested you must pass a very rigorous psychological, physical and background check. They will also need such things as family medical history for a great length of time and may even need you to take an IQ test.

You are selling a product, nothing more. And they want to make sure that they are getting the most for their money.

Why are they plowing over the spinach crops ?

Favorite Answer:

Hey Vee,

Since the e-coli is a bacteria, by taking away the sun and the element of “time” in the sun – you diminish its power!

Burning would produce an ash that may not be beneficial to the field for the nest crop. PLUS, it’s wildfire time here in California!

It is considered “stealing” to trespass in order to retreive your own property?

Hey Stein,

I agree that Yes, It’s yours, so take it back. It would not be considered “Trespassing” in most states if you are simply taking it from his bag. BUT, you say that he is returning this week, obviously , Sam has not been at work, period. If you have the opportunity, I would confront him, tell him to return it and if he looks strangely at you, then call the police. Make sure you have your receipt.

Good Luck,

James

With the spinach scare, are you now rinsing all pre-cut and packaged produce?

Favorite Answer:

Hey Chomper – AND FRIENDS!

Please note that washing the spinach WILL NOT remove the e-coli bacteria from your spinach! It is INSIDE the spinach!

There was a comment that one young lady said she will only buy “USDA approved ORGANIC spinach”

The spinach pulled, WAS USDA approved organic spinach.

The only spinach that you should eat now should be:

1). Frozen, boxed spinach.

2). Spinach that is grown in your own back yard.

3). Spinach that was NOT grown in the SALINAS VALLEY area of California.

USDA only certifies that the ground, seed, planting methods and pesticides used are in their guidelines. They don’t monitor the individual fields unless something like e-coli happens.

Why would a parent tell their children that Santa Claus is not real–no matter how old they are?

Hey Lindsey,

Safety! I know that as a parent, I would hate for my kid to come to me and say (at 25) “Hey, Dad… This Christmas I am going to ask Santa for a fleet of new cars, 1 for everyone of my friends!”

It was easier after they got older to realize that “Santa” has limits too (especially with college bills!).

Plus, As an added benefit — I finally had help wrapping gifts the few days before Christmas and didn’t need to hide them as well.

Questions to Employers?

Favorite Answer:

Hey H.K. Man,

As we near our November elections, Politics will always play a part in any “Social situation”, and Yes, work is a social situation. There will always be the person that is the center of attention. If we are lucky, in the workplace, that person will be the boss. That, however, is not always the case.

Ideally, we would like to think, it’s not whether you win or lose, it’s how you play the game — BUT, in today’s world, plays are rarely noticed — WINS always are! (The company your work for, unless it is some social service agency, pays their bills by winning, not by placing in the top 5).

Sometimes, there are situations where you have two equally “qualified” employees; Let’s say Joe and Diane. Joe spends his off time schmoozing with the boss, Diane spends her off time researching the competition. Diane is obviously the harder worker, right? Not always –! Joe may be making contacts with others in the industry or at least appear to, when he is spending time with the boss. In today’s world, appearances ARE EVERYTHING! If they weren’t, we wouldn’t need the latest cell phone, the sportiest/classiest car or even the membership to ???

I am usually Diane! Sadly, I know that the other Diane’s out there, when we make a success, we don’t feel it is as well noticed. So we have a tendency to try to toot our own horn — we also look desperate when we do this.

Firing is a very tenuous proposition. It is an aggressive move, and a move even if followed by the letter of the law, is still subject to litigation (I fired a Bartender for selling an alcoholic drink TO-GO, I and my employer were sued from here to eternity, with allegations of everything from sexism to sexual harassment to racism — The lawsuit took 2 years and in the end, it was cheaper to settle than to pay to take it to a judge or jury trial) So investment isn’t always the reason that an employer won’t terminate someone. It may be easier to get the “Squeaky Wheel” to quit and hope that the “Family” in the office will get over any turmoil.

My advise, in most cases, if you are in a situation where a “Joe” is getting all the perks and you are a Diane, is to either become a “Joe” or look for an employer who fosters a more even playing field in the workplace.

Hope I added something of value to the other comments!

Is PODS Moving Company worth the money?

Favorite Answer:

Hey Dude,

Several years ago, I used a pre-curser to today’s PODS (Box-It or Hold-it, something like that), I LOVED IT! There is no renting a truck! You load it at your convenience, (No additional rental time), They bring it where you want when you are ready.

I had nothing broken and there was no evidence that it was not properly stored. If you have to move out of state, they’ll bring it for an additional charge, no recruiting a friend to go with you to a storage facility to help unload. Everything about it was +++++!

I used this for 6 or 7 months.

Only weakness, if you are the type that likes to go to your storage unit to get things out, this is not an option. They will make the pod available to you, but you must make arrangements and there is some sort of charge. Also, unlike the storage place, if you don’t have a lock, they don’t have a loaner for you — It’s in your driveway.

Hope I was able to help!

Looking for pros & cons of switching from regular phone service to digital.?

Favorite Answer:

Hey Dos,

PRO:

-Cheaper (especially if you already have digital)

-Add addiitional lines for just a few $ – compared to $$$ from tel co.

-Free things: Usually; caller id, call waiting, speed call, digital answer, call forward, and in home extensions (1 ring for u, 2 rings for bro, 3 rings for ma)

-Clearer sound ( allegedly )

CON:

-Only 1 bill every month – bill with everything may seem expensive.

-Same connection as computer

-Number MAY not be as portable.

-You can’t pretend you’re doing that Cox commercial where you keep picking up the phone like an idiot to listen to dial tone.

-You can’t do your Lilly Tomlin impression “We don’t care, We don’t have too” and have it be authentic!

Seriously,

I haven’t found any difference other than my first bill I was like WOW, because I forgot that I had everything on one bill and I had to pay for the changeover (it was $55).

Good Luck, Hope this information helps,

If you and a member of the same sex were sharing a calzone would that make you gay?

Favorite Answer:

Hey Jax,

Define “Sharing”…..

If that definition involves removal of clothes…. Then, Yup! Your Gay!

If that definition only involves eating “Of The Calzone” Only …. Then, Nope!

Like one of the answers said, as a teenager (Adults, too) we share pizzas – What is wrong with sharing a calzone? If you weren’t “feeding the food to each other” then how does anyone infer anything other than two people eating? PLUS…

If you saw two women sharing a salad, would that make them Lesbian?

Do you think tipping has gotten out of hand? How much do you guys tip at restaurants?

Favorite Answer:

Hey Rub,

Well you certainly have hit a nerve, haven’t you? I must preface this by saying that I have waited tables and bartended for many years, so anything I say will probably be “tilted”.

1). Most servers are taxed on their Sales, meaning that it doesn’t matter what you tip them, the government says they will be making $$$ in tips on $$$$ in sales – So that’s what they are taxing them for, PERIOD.

2). Benefits: What? In many other industries, Workers will get raises, insurance, holiday and vacation pay. Not your server!

3). Breaks: What? Most servers know that during their shift, if they want to make money, they will stay on the floor. This is fine on a Monday, when they start work at 4:00pm and they are home by 9:00p.m. BUT — let’s try on a Friday night, when it is now 11:00pm and they have not stopped working once! If your boss told you that on a daily basis, screw your breaks — the company’s busy — you’d tell him to shove his job, you’re taking Lunch!

4). Tipping Amount: When I used to wait tables, it didn’t matter to me because it would all average out in the end. But, If a couple is spending $100, my guess is they will spend about 2 hours eating. $15.00 is too much to spend in tip? You’ve just tied up a table for 2 hours….

The TIP CUPS — Toss them with the help! Just once, try tipping at McDonald’s! They will POLITELY inform you that they are not allowed to accept Tips.

Servers also tip out EVERYBODY! Bartender, Busser, Hostess and sometimes, even the kitchen staff.

5). KARMA: What happens one day if someone in your family has to wait tables, would you want this karma hanging over your head.

6). Do you go to a favorite bar? If you go, is it fair to say that you will drop $15.00 for booze? 15% will be $2.25 – Does that seem like too much money? I mean after all, they are just pouring beer.

Lastly, If you feel that tipping has just gotten out of hand — the next time you go into a restaurant, let the Owner know and ask if he/she will wait on you, I am dying to hear their response. I got mad at a friend of mine years ago because she ordered food to be delivered and the owner personally brought it over. I said to the owner later that I felt that my friend should not have tipped. The owner went ballistic! “Don’t I give Good Service?”

When Tipping first started, it was in the 15th Century. You gave the Tip BEFORE your service. It was to insure prompt service!

Would it be fair to go back to that?

My answers aren’t any better than anyone else, I’ve just been there and done that. I’ve seen a server work a full 2 week pay period and receive a $26.00 check because everything else was taken out in taxes.

I do know this though — They are happy you appreciate them, but if its a problem, they won’t mind it if you stopped coming in.

Is applebees a good place to eat? What is a good choice on the menu?

Hey Kim,

I am not a fan of Applebee’s! I do not like their entrees. No taste and no excitement.

BUT —

I am with Nikki! I have been there a few times and the times that I have ordered their Appetizer Sampler plate, I have really enjoyed it! Their Little ribs are good, The Potato Skins and the Quesadilla are average and the Wings were pretty good. And I think the Sampler was about $12.00, but more than enough for 2 to share.

So If you’re stuck going there, trust that you can split the platter and at least you and the friend that you split it with will have a better time than the others.

Does anyone know what happened to Olinda’s Mexican Restaurant that was located in Old Town?

Favorite Answer:

Hey Khlorite,

Not to my knowledge. When I was managing a restaurant down there they were having lots of problems with attracting customers. They also knew that they were paying too much for their lease. I know that He (the Husband) was going to go back to warehouse work, that was about 8 months ago, I haven’t seen them since.

how many poeple in USA eat french fries with Mayonaise?

Favorite Answer:

Hey Puja,

I was raised in the Midwest with East Coast parents who put Thousand Island dressing on everything (OK, not everything!) So I got used to the taste. 1000 isn’t available everyplace, but alot of places do have Mayo as well as Ketchup, so it’s my poor mans 1000 island.

On the Beer thing: NOPE! In Europe they fully understand the consequences of a DUI — while we in the USA still lead the world in per-capita arrests for DUI. We already have many places where we can get booze! Also remember, McD’s appeals to more adults in Europe than here in the USA — So here it’s still very much a Kids eating place. I think that them not being around booze for a majority of their meals is a good thing!

Any armchair theories on why the island on “Lost” is so?

Favorite Answer:

Hey North,

I believe that it is a parallel of our own lives.

The “Others” – We don’t trust people that aren’t like us! When we have an issue like immigration or Gays wanting to get married or prayer in the schools – WE GET VERY HOSTILE!

The “Island” – There is no person to save them. No government, No mom, No family – It’s up to them and their own wits. What would happen if you were one of those people in hurricane Katrina or in the Tsunami in Indonesia at Christmas? Who would be there for you?

The “Plot” – What will happen to all of them? What would happen to all of us? We have turmoil in the Middle East, Problems with Iran, Oil producing countries that have a strangle-hold on all of us…. What will they do?

Just my thoughts,

James in San Diego

Why don’t we teach morals in school?

Favorite Answer:

Hey Space,

While I would welcome this as being a required curriculum, I only have a few problems.

1). For some reason, our schools are having a difficult time teaching; Math, Reading, English, History and Equality.

2). I come from San Diego — You know, Enron by the Sea — Our politicians have a difficult time sitting at work without figuring out how to spend our money AND line their pockets, AT THE SAME TIME!

3). We have Scandal after scandal in Washington D.C. involving our elected officials and bribes, kickbacks, favors — You name it!

4). We have the richest people, in the richest country and most are trying to figure out how to get even richer.

5). Who sets the standard? Is it the Coach that will win at any cost – even if that cost is by benching a marginal player or will it be the School Board member that refuses to have a class properly instructed because his OWN religious beliefs run contrary to the accepted sciences. We could have the Gay teacher who is afraid to come out for fear that he will be unfairly scrutinized or maybe the teacher who is on his third marriage who doesn’t fully understand the concept of “Til Death Us Do Part”.

You and I and everyone else that is reading these answers all have high morals. The problem is, ON WHAT CAN WE AGREE? Sadly, this isn’t the old argument that “I know what pornography is when I see it” days. They are still banning books in certain school districts, yet attempting to pass laws that dictate that a state system can only teach about Gay’s in a positive light….? (What if Hitler was Gay? Wasn’t Jefferey Dahmer Gay? I am Gay and I don’t subscribe to that kind of legislative interference!

After all of this rambling, I can only propose one thing:

Please, parents, family and those that care. Teach our children well! Show them guidance and mostly teach them how to see the difference between right and wrong!

I think if our kids are raised right (whatever that means) they will be able to make just and honorable decisions in life!

And that is my 10 minutes on the soapbox!

James in San Diego

What is the best widely recognized chain restaurant and why?

Hey Nido,

My vote is going to the Palm Restaurant. It’s been around since the turn of the century, has weathered depression, war, recession and the odd craze of diets that have banished most restaurants from our special event lexicon.

The food is Beef, beef and more beef. Their prices are high. I think the 1 diet thing on the menu is chicken breast or fish. It is old world dining (The place where our rich Uncle would take us to when he came to town).

BUT

They have managers and employees that have been with them for 25-30 years. Presidents and Members of Congress eat there. We finally got one in San Diego this past year. They don’t issue coupons, they don’t need to! They don’t have an early bird or senior dining menu, they don’t need one! Children’s menu? Why? You’re supposed to get a babysitter. They don’t have valet parking, it’s not part of the dining event! Yet they have nearly 30 restaurants in the United States, alone!

It’s not snooty, it’s just real good adult dining! I know that if I go there to have a relaxing meal with friends or my wife, I will have just that — A Relaxing Meal!

That’s my vote!

James in San Diego

What was the best service you had at a restaurant and what made the service so good?

Hey Abby,

I am taken by the fact that so many had their best service only a few days/weeks ago….

On a date, many years ago, I was with my g/f at a place called the “Greenhouse” outside of Chicago. Everything that night was perfect.

The server was so great that, we in fact, never really saw him. Other than our initial ordering, we only had a symphony of unseen hands that would add and remove plates, refill waters etc. Whatever we needed, magically appeared. It was as if her and I were the only two that were dining that night.

I have had exceptional service from many places throughout the world but nothing has ever equaled this. I only wish when I proposed, I had the exact same experience.

So I guess the key word for the “WHAT” would be — We felt uninterrupted, unrushed and definately appreciated!

Thanks for a great question.

were can i find a place to go on a date but on a budget?

Hey Chuy,

While I like Lord Z’s answer, I also have a suggestion.

Get a pre-packaged picnic lunch or dinner (Or you can make your own) and go to one of the parks that has the free concerts.

You will find listings in the San Diego Reader. There are concerts at Bird Park in North Park, Balboa Park (at the organ pavilion) as well as other places around San Diego

OR

How about the same picnic and then (if they have started them again) watch the fireworks outside of Sea World. Or if you want to do this during the day – For the low, low price of $5.00 you can go to the tip of Point Loma (Cabrillo Monument) or save the $5.00 and go to Sunset Cliffs and watch the sun set.

Tell your boss the next time he needs something, like you to answer the phone, and just tell him you’ll get to it in 12-14 minutes! And they never seem to be in a hurry! They look at me like they can’t wait for me to get out of there, the ingrates!

Michel Richard Cafe $$-$$$

Bakery++++ Cafe+++

L’Orangerie $$$$-$$$$$

Fine Dining at it’s best – Very Old Money Between Fairfax+W. Hollywood.

Melisse Restaurant $$$-$$$$

Out in Santa Monica. Food is Very traditional.

Four Oaks (Used to be called Bel Age) $$$$-$$$$$

Expensive! But it is in Bel Air and it’s meant to be seen!

Le Petit Bistro $$-$$$

West Hollywood! Bring your little dog and sit in the patio. Cute but very Safe boy waiters, if you know what I mean

Le Petit Cafe $-$$

Santa Monica. It’s a little more casual. Check — the last time I was in the hood, they were opened some funky hours.

French Quarter $

West Hollywood. I don’t consider anything EXCEPT the interior and the name to be French. Food is a step above Fast Food, but after reading some of the stuff here (People actually say Denny’s is good….-:p ) So I’ve included it.

I hope I’ve helped more than I have hurt.

Hey WWWWWWWWWWW,

Apple Cider in it’s alcohol form is called:

Apple Jack!

So how about:

Virgin Jack,

Non-Alcoholic Apple Jack,

O’Jack (A contraction of “O’Douls” + “Apple Jack”)

OR

If you are in a social setting and do not want someone to know that you are ordering a non-alcoholic drink, just ask for:

Sparkling Cider

Most servers and all bartenders know that a Sparkling Cider means the Non-alcoholic Apple Cider that you are referring to.

What restaurant pays the most to servers with little or no experience?

Favorite Answer:

Hey You Indian Jew,

Well, You know the answer to this one, and it ain’t In-N-Out! There are no tips allowed at our fave. burger joint.

So since all of the other fast food places pay even less, they’re all out.

So that means tipped positions. You can try smaller chains like Hof’s Hut where the need for experience is modified by the fact that they are in area’s around colleges. Also, you might try the larger deli’s like Canter’s on Fairfax – Since you are Jewish, you would fall under the sympathy umbrella from your fellow brethren. That being said…

If you’ve got “THE GOODS” — The best place for you to work would be as either a cocktailer, or…. a server at ………..

Hooters.

Hooters doesn’t rely on experience! They rely on “The Goods” and a personality. If you have both — you are very qualified! If you’ve only got one — talk to a friend about assisting you with the others (They sell many things at Victoria’s Secret that can assist you in adding qualifications).

Mostly, keep in mind that in Los Angeles, there are thousands that are trying to break into “The Industries” add to that, another few thousand that are college students, and you realize that you’ve got your work cut out for you. Try area’s that are freeway close (if you have a car) but far enough away that you are not near colleges. I personally recommend places like Silver Lake, Burbank, Los Feliz, North Hollywood, Downtown, and the casinos around the 5 and in Bell. I would add Universal Studios City Walk – but keep in mind my “Industries” warning.

If you can dress the part, Don’t forget sales jobs around Beverly Hills. If you are articulate enough and carry yourself well, many of the sales jobs around Rodeo, Beverly/Wilshire and Century City will pay wage, PLUS commission. The Holidays are coming up and you may do quite well for yourself!

Good Luck and Give ’em hell!

Recently I get more spam in my inbox. (36 each)?

Favorite Answer:

Hey Ray,

You went to a site either mentioned in someones e-mail or someplace here that referenced a site.

Problem is that the site disabled your spam guard. Try deleteing and then re-installing, or if that is too much trouble, try going to your virus scan and see what spam settings are on it that you can use.

Best I can offer for now,

James in San Diego

FROM YAHOO HELP:

To edit or delete a filter, click the “Mail Options” link on the top-right navigation bar, and then choose “Filters” located under the Spam column on the left side of the page.

Once you reach the Filters page, select the filter you would like to edit and click the “Save Changes” button. After making the desired changes be sure to click “Edit Filter” for your changes to start taking effect.

To delete one of your filters, select the filter you would like to delete and click the “Delete” button.

ALSO POSSIBLE OVERAGE IN YOUR SPAM PENDING FOLDER:

What can I do if I reach my limit, and I can’t delete my base name?

You have two opportunities to delete your base name. If you already deleted your base name once, please make sure the new base name you choose meets your needs, as this will be your final base name.

If you have already reached the limit, you can’t delete your base name.

If you intended to delete your base name because it is difficult to remember, we suggest that you use our AddressGuard kiosk. This will make it easy to recall your AddressGuard disposable addresses from any browser window.

If you intended to delete your base name because your disposable addresses receive too much spam, you can identify the addresses that receive the spam and delete these addresses individually.

To easily find out which disposable address receives spam, you can chose to display the message recipient in all folders. This feature allows you to display the email address the message was sent to. This is a convenient way to differentiate between messages sent to your disposable addresses from messages sent to your Yahoo! Mail primary address.

To set up this folder view:

1. Click on “Mail Options.”

2. Click on “AddressGuard.”

3. Click the “Show Column” link.

4. Now go to your inbox or bulk mail folder to view the additional field.

To delete a disposable email address:

1. Click on “Mail Options.”

2. Click on “AddressGuard.”

3. Select the disposable email address you want to delete.

4. Click the “Delete” button.

5. Confirm the deletion.

Hope this was helpful since you haven’t been able to contact Yahoo or DSL directly.

This should take care of your problems.

PLeasE HelP mE!!!?

Favorite Answer:

Hey Dude,

Contact customer support. Someone was using your screen name and was booted from Yahoo, Chess. They just haven’t reset that area of Yahoo to accept your name. You can also try changing your profile to a different name in the meantime and that should get you into Yahoo Chess until Yahoo Customer Care is able to clear up the mess.

what is streptococcus b?

Gerry,

Your Mom (and your Pediatrician) used to call it a “Staph Infection”.

A Cat biting you might cause a Staph Infection. Viruses are able to enter your blood stream through the cats puncture. This would be different than cutting yourself on say a piece of glass. There may be germs on the glass, but probably not the bacteria that causes Strep.

Don’t confuse this with the bacteria that causes “Strep Throat”, while the bacteria are related the only thing they have in common is the way they attack your body.

A Strep B infection will involve swelling ( a lot! ) and typically an extremely warm area where the infection is.

Do you know someone who can remove carpet glue from tile floors?

Hey Victoria,

I’m am usually with “jit” time and time again. Try her method, but use a hairdryer first (not at the same time – You don’t want to start the WD-40 on fire!), Soften the glue and use the WD-40 to keep it from re-adhering to your tile.

They also sell a product called “Goo be Gone”, but I would follow the same instructions regarding heating it up first.

Everyone is forgetting that the glue now is HARD. It’s like Liquid Nails. On a normal hard surface, you could take this of with a scraper, but on a shiny tile, you will see the scratch marks.

The reason I mention this, is that you will find few firms that will do the work for you. They may do it but they will make you sign a liability form that excuses them due to the scratching of the tiles.

If you call a new home builder in your area, they employ firms that do this work all the time. Ask them what “New Home Prep” company that they use. New home buyers find things wrong all the time and these companies know how to fix most things — Sadly, alot of the builders that you call will have their own In-House fix-it guys.

Good Luck,

Where in San Diego to sell china, crystal?

Favorite Answer:

Hey Helen,

You have a few choices:

CONSIGNMENT SHOPS: You will find a lot up on Adams Avenue in the Normal Heights/Kensington area. Also, along Newport Ave in Ocean Beach. There are others in Lemon Grove/La Mesa as well as a few in Pacific Beach. Look for either Consignment Shops or Antique Dealers.

If you are looking to sell things outright. Call first and ask if the appraiser is there that can make the deal on the spot.

KOBEY’S SWAP MEET: You will have to get your own permit from the folks at Kobey’s and be there in person to sell your wares.

E-BAY: I am amazed at the items that they are able to sell on E-Bay. You don’t have to be “There” to sell things. You can set minimum prices ahead of time and you can sell things with “Shipping added”.

If they are new or from a certain period, you can also see if there is a boutique that would act as a compliment to your glassware and see if they will let you set-up a display — keeping in mind that you may have to have your own display cases.

Hope I was able to help,

America has not converted to the metric system…WHY?

Favorite Answer:

Hey Lexie,

COST! If you were in school during the 1970’s, the U.S. Government issued the directive that all students needed to be trained in the Metric System. However, many larger industries cited cost.

To re-tool industry (Lumber, Steel, Automotive, Forms, Architectural Drawings, and to some merit, Military) the costs to Industry (at the time ) were claimed to be prohibitive. Industry claimed that it would put them at an unfair advantage to bear the costs to re-tool and still remain competitive in the world markets.

If they attempted to convert today, the process would be much easier. More computers are now in use than in the 1970’s. Many more parts are made overseas as well as metric parts made here in the U.S. The cost, today, while cheaper, still is a major anti-metric argument. Our older vehicles (Auto, Aircraft, Ships & Rail) our infrastructure (electrical, plumbing and lumber) and our printed materials would still need to be supported with replacement parts and conversion abilities. This would still require companies to maintain two sets of manufacturing capabilities.

On the Home front. I am pretty sure that Aunt Edna would be confused if she was used to using 1 pound of butter for a recipe and found that butter was only available as 500 Grams. I believe that she would stop baking – and let you decypher her handed down recipes.

I don’t believe Americans are LAZY…. Hell, we don’t care what the speed limit sign says! Some say we can’t adapt, tell that to the people waiting in lines at airports! Like someone said, We’ve had 2 litre bottles of Soda since the 70’s, Nobody’s complained! We never were able to go to the banks on weekends or after hours – American ingenuity solved that little fiasco (ATM’s were installed 5 years ahead of Europe!).

Will we convert to Metric ? We were told if we didn’t we were going to be left out of world trading. Well, we’re waiting….

I hope I helped,

James in San Diego

P.S. To the guy that said something about money — Money is not cosidered metric! But I’ll be happy to take 10 quarters for my dollar!

Where can I find a secretary code of conduct?

Favorite Answer:

Hey ZVI,

Absent of the items that the previous person has listed, If you have a “Policy and Procedure” manual in the offices (usually it’s located in accounting or on a companies “intra-net”.). That will be your best routes. The P & P will be the “Bible” that will include things that won’t be in the job description.

Hope I helped more than I hurt.

Is Gastric Bypass Supposed To Be Preformed On Teenagers??Ages 12-18??

Favorite Answer:

Hey D & G,

No, unless it is STRONGLY recommended by another doctor. I have heard of it being done by doctors, but in every case it has been at the request of other doctors.

I would check with the local chapter of the AMA or if nothing else, at least call your doctor or your local department of health and ask for other resources.

It’s a major physical as well as emotional drain on any person. Someone of that young age would have to be VERY level headed.

Thanks for caring!

anybody anticipating the new Meat Loaf CD as much as I am?

Hey “P”,

Being in my youth when his first albums came out as well as his “Rocky Horror” stint was filmed – I enjoyed him.

In the ensuing years, I was less enamored by his songs.

EXAMPLE: ” I would do anything for love, but I won’t do that! ”

He never does tell us exactly what “That” is. Plus his last few songs sound like “Bat out of Hell” the re-mix versions.

So, No! I would like to hear some snippets before I make a final decision.

Thanks,

How do men know if they have Hpv?Is there a kind of test to detect it (for men)?

Favorite Answer:

Hey Rodrick,

Yes there is. It’s basically the same test that women get. The reason that men aren’t tested is that it won’t cause the same terminal cancers that it can cause in women.

Men also have a built-in warning system, although, few, if any know what they are looking at. In men, the first sign of an infection of HPV is genital warts. Whether they are Penile, Anal (Usually, even if they aren’t Gay) or Oral. Men typically disregard these symptoms as “Cold Sores”, “Pimples” or ingrown hairs.

I agree that it has been ignored — but as I said, the risks to men are minimal and with a normal immune system, a man is able to develop antibodies that keep it in a controlled “non-contagious” state, sometimes for many years. Like Herpes, this state can change depending on the male state of health (HIV, Stress, Herpes, Pneumonia or any form of cancer.).

Sadly, like pregnancy, society has put this one on the women’s front door. However, unlike pregnancy, this virus has caused many worldwide deaths and unless it is put into check, may soon be a leading cause of death among women.

How objective is science?

Well,

That depends on how you interpret the results. Remember Darwin wouldn’t disclose his findings for more than 50 years after he came to the conclusions that he did for fear of being laughed out of the science academies.

It always goes back to the central question: “Which came first, the Chicken or the Egg ?” We all know the answer is the Chicken, but can we really be that sure ? A well placed argument and a thorough investigation could convince anyone of a different outcome. But how do I interpret the results I see before me ? I need the BASICS of science to filter the argument into something logical I can interpret.

Those are my 2 pence!

Has anyone seen a better Starbucks than the one opened by my house?

Hey Igi,

Well, No!

See they have a new program that includes the more “suburban” homey look. So whenever possible (Usually in the smaller strip or self built locations) they’ve added the items that you have mentioned.

Depending on traffic (people, not cars guys) they will remodel the older locations to reflect those amenities, whenever possible.

So, No! I haven’t seen a better Starbucks than yours, I’ve only seen others like it!

Congratulations,
